University Support
FedEx is proud to support access to educational opportunities through The FedEx Global Education Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
FedEx supports academic institutions that help fuel the growth of cultural diversity and spur innovation by increasing access to ideas, places, materials, capital and new technologies. As part of our commitment to education, we work closely with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Tulane University, and the University of Memphis to promote intellectual exploration.
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
In 2007, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill dedicated a new building devoted to innovative global education efforts through a gift from FedEx. The FedEx Global Education Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will serve as the nucleus of intellectual and social activity for faculty, students, alumni, the community, and visiting scholars from around the world. The Global Education Center will bring together in one integrated facility the three major components of international education – student services, academic programs and faculty research. This center will house UNC’s international research and curriculum program designed to transform its students into global citizens, prepared to meet the challenges of a global future. Tulane University
As part of our ongoing support to help rebuild and strengthen New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, FedEx announced a $300,000 grant in 2007 to Tulane University’s Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives. The grant will help support the university’s leadership in the effort to transform the New Orleans public education system in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The institute is seeking to create a model of urban education reform that serves as a national example. For more information, please visit

University of Memphis
We are committed to supporting the University of Memphis, an academic institution in the hometown of our corporate headquarters, working to foster both innovation and educational access. The FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis is an advanced research center with cutting-edge research teams working on topics including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, geospatial analysis, multimedia arts and nanotechnology. The Institute serves as a gateway for businesses to collaborate with over 150 University of Memphis researchers. Working through its corporate and government partners, the Institute cultivates new research funds for the researchers. The FedEx Institute of Technology annually hosts a business plan competition that is designed to encourage students and researchers in the community to produce top business firms.
