FedEx utilizes its logistics expertise to bring hope and relief to people affected by disasters.
Heart to Heart International
FedEx is committed to utilizing our network to support disaster preparedness and contingency planning to pre-stage materials before a disaster strikes. Working with the relief organization Heart to Heart International, we have established four global forward-response centers to pre-stage relief supplies that can be quickly transported to people affected by a disaster. These centers allow Heart to Heart to get supplies where they’re needed immediately. In fact, with our logistics support relief materials, we can arrive anywhere in the world within 24 to 72 hours. Each center is stocked with 60 to 80 pallets of basic relief supplies: shelter, drinking water and medical supplies. The stock is automatically replaced once deployed, which takes advantage of the efficiency of our network.

FedEx has helped Heart to Heart move disaster-relief supplies to China, Honduras, India, Israel, Iraq, Jamaica, Peru, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam. We have also provided support to Indonesia and Thailand as part of the relief effort to aid survivors of the Southeast Asia tsunamis. Additionally, FedEx organizes the collection, inventory sorting, storage, clearance and transport of relief supplies to sites affected by earthquakes, hurricanes or other natural disasters. Direct Relief Foundation

Through our support via in-kind shipping, Direct Relief has been able to deliver critical medical shipments valued at more than $7 million to its partners and physicians in more than 43 countries. FedEx was one of the first of Direct Relief's corporate partners to make a commitment to join the international relief effort in South Asia by helping Direct Relief deliver $2.7 million (wholesale) of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to the tsunami-affected region. Water Missions International
FedEx supports Water Mission International, an organization focused on providing sustainable access to safe water. By providing in-kind shipping services, FedEx plays a vital role in getting safe water to people in need. During the Myanmar relief effort, FedEx provided complimentary transportation services to Water Missions International carrying 40 large water systems. These systems provided a total of 400,000 gallons of purified water each day and supported communities of up to 3,000 people. For more information, visit www.watermissions.org.
